SB products are hydrsosol based, and no water is ever used. All Sequoia Beauty hydrosols come from 2 local sources: All Star Organics farm in Marin and Sophia’s Garden, a biodynamic farm in Sonoma. Hydrosols are raw living things, and they make more active result oriented formulas.
Oils:
All SB oils are organic, cold pressed, and unrefined. They are never heated above temperatures that would reduce their nutritional value. They have more scent and color than most competitors, and that is a GOOD thing. This means they have more vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Living, raw, ingredients are essential for anti-aging.
Preservatives and Emulsifiers:
SB toners and serums are so high in antioxidants, vitamins, and mineral content they need no preservatives. Creams are preserved with radish root filtrate and potassium sorbate, both are certified by ECOCERT, and are completely natural and non-toxic. Emulsifiers are also almost always toxic, but SB works with organic plant gums, organic non-gmo lecithin, and shea butter.

Storybook Apothecary
This cleanser is seriously super gentle! It doesn’t foam at all; instead, it feels like a really super light cleansing lotion or even serum that you massage into the skin and then rinse off. It leaves your skin really soft and calm. My only qualm with this one is that it may be too moisturizing for oily skin and might make someone feel too oily if they have combination skin and use this in the summertime. I was okay using this on a cold day, but when we had a hot day I noticed I got oilier quicker. My advice if you want to benefit from the awesome ingredients in this without the oiliness : double cleanse with a gel cleanser or something beforehand and then use this cleanser. If you have super oily skin, you might be able to skip using a moisturizer. Otherwise, anyone can use this year round as a very gentle makeup remover; it is amazing for that!
